“With an interest in bringing home the connection between the world’s changing climate, stemming from the extraction and burning of fossil fuels, to the escalating need for the community to address the impacts including sea level rise, Sanchez Art Center is thrilled to collaborate with the California Society of Printmakers on an exhibition for Extraction: Art on the Edge of the Abyss.” ~Sanchez Art Center, Cindy Abbott, Executive Director and Janet Barker, Program Manager
Theme: Extraction: Response to the Changing World Environment. Believing artists can be messengers and have purpose through recording world events, the California Society of Printmakers is inspired to create a forum to express our diverse perspectives through various printmaking techniques. Many of our members currently work on environmentally conscious subjects in their practice. At this time even more are called by recent challenging events to join the conversation. This exhibition provides a platform for our members to artistically communicate concerns about the future of our changing world environment.
