| About the Artist: |
My work is very much driven by the process of painting, printing and collage. It is intuitive and meditative, and develops through impulse and the subconscious. It reflects my interest in memory, impermanence, and the relationship between opposites such as order vs. chaos, structure vs. gesture and line vs. form.
I try to develop levels of meaning by building and/or removing layers of paint, ink, paper and other materials. Collage elements are often torn, cut, and manipulated, suggesting forgotten, discarded and/or hidden parts of our lives. I often repeat shapes and marks in different pieces. They become a personal language of animated marks. Each piece has its own history, which is partially revealed through various layers. They are images and marks contained in layers of space and time. |
