| About the Artist: |
For much of my career, I’ve worked in color, painting and drawing. I started working with linocuts eight years ago when I wanted to create my own postcard announcement for a show. I enjoyed the change of pace in making linocuts. I didn't use color, but instead, created using black and white lines. I started out small, 9" x 12", and increased to 18" x 24". In the last two years, I’ve hand colored some of my prints, using watercolor.
I’ve always been drawn to a symbolized use of nature. Artists such as Milton Avery, Georgia O’Keefe, and Arthur Dove continue to inspire me. Certain aspects of nature strike a chord in me and I feel drawn to work with that imagery. I create series of prints that often become more abstract as I work with them, but sometimes my imagery takes on an anthropomorphic quality. |
