| About the Artist: |
I rarely think in terms of making prints - more toward expressing a particular language of art whether it's painting, printing, or other media. So, why do I make prints ... it could very well be because I like paper. There is a quality to some papers that inspire me to investigate the response of the inks. I have experimented with most printmaking processes and find the monotype suits my approach. For me it's an intuitive painterly way of getting to the image. It involves less process and is more immediate with the image containing marks unique to the monotype. I like to do all the work on the plate with one pass through the press. This leads to more experimentation with related images often leading to a series. Titles come later when the images reveal their source. |
