About the Artist

About the Artist: Education and background: Born in Chicago to Swedish immigrant parents, Maj-Britt Hilstrom was graduated ferom Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Her degree there was supplemented by study at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, the Yoshida Hanga Academy in Tokyo, Japan, and the Marble and Art Institute in Pietrasanta, Italy. She is the founder and director of the Blue Bay Press, a fine art cooperative located in the East Bay hills of San Francisco Bay.

Her work concerns water and its protection. There is no new water. Wars have been fought over the rights to this liquid. Many of her recent works have been motivated by the worldwide phenomenon of overfishing.

Exhibitions: Maj-Britt Hilstrom has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally from San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago and Hawaii, to Sweden, Israel, Belgium, Bangkok, Paris, London, Mexico City, Berlin and Singapore.
