| About the Artist: |
I began making prints at California State University, Chico in 1965. As an expressionist artist and an impatient person, I tried not to follow "tried and true" methods. This did not last long. When Janet E. Turner, Professor of Printmaking, returned from Japan and became my teacher, I learned that printmaking was fascinating and also hard. Professor Turner encouraged me throughout her life until her death. She bought and traded for my prints. Currently a large collection of my work belongs to, and is exhibited, at the Janet E. Turner Print Museum at California State University, Chico.
Finding my direction in printmaking has led me to dry point, intaglio, wood cut and serigraphy. My works fall into the categories of family ("Dear Mama" and "Playmates"), nature ("Treasure" and "Remembering My Father Bringing These Home") and social commentary ("Burning Churches, Burning Questions" and "Ever Closer"). My prints have been exhibited in Japan, Korea, Romania, Egypt, and the U.S. |
