Glen will be presenting her new book, Symbols of the Spirit: A Meditative Journey Through Arttaking us on a journey to explore eight iconic symbols that appear universally in early civilizations. She introduces archetypes—the bird, the circle, the lotus, the moon, the seed, the spiral, the vessel, and the vesica piscis—delving into both their meanings and their metaphors. Her view is that all of these symbols are connected to the spiritual realm and have an undeniable link to the Sacred Feminine. Glen engages us with her unique style of art that illustrates each chapter and shares her personal stories and inspiration.
In Glen’s Monoprint demo, she will share her intuitive/painterly approach to printing where she begins by wiping the drypoint plate to attain her key image, then adds various textures and multiple drop transparenciesto finish the print. Glen’s work draws from a universal visual language of primal forms and symbols inspired by nature and visits to ancient sacred sites. Her work utilizes bold strokes and subtle textures to attain a mystical/meditative quality.
Glen is an internationally exhibited artist/educator whose work includes painting, prints and public sculpture. She relocated to Mexico from the Bay Area in 2002 and teaches monotypeworkshops in San Miguel de Allende and has led Art Vacations to Mazatlan, Oaxaca, Guanajuato and Peru. As a curator, she has organized international exhibitions and exchanges; Paper Migration, Presence in Nature and Plastic Madness among them. Her recent exhibitions include Crossing Borders, Ghent Belgium, Poeticas de Artes Contemporáneos, Museo del Bicentenario, Dolores Hidalgo, and Galeria Espiral in San Miguel de Allende. Her solo show of large-scale monotypes was featured at Bienal Int’l de Grabado, Lima, Peru in 2016 and Bellas Artes, Cusco in 2017.
