Born in Toledo, Ohio, Kathryn Kain has her BFA, emphasis on printmaking from San Jose State and her MFA in printmaking from San Francisco Art Institute. Nature, nurture and the deep connection between humans and plants inspire her art. She worked as a master printmaker at Smith Andersen Editions (SAE), a fine art publishing studio devoted to the monotype in Palo Alto, CA. Recently Ms. Kain established her own press, Blu Rose Atelier, located in her studio at San Francisco at Hunter’s Point Shipyard.

Joanna Kidd is a printmaker, sculptor, and video installation artist. After graduating in Philosophy and Cognitive Science from Dartmouth College, she studied Printmaking and Sculpture at San Francisco State University. She then moved to Florence, Italy and received a BFA in Sculpture and an MFA in Visual Art and Multimedia Techniques from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. She has been an Artist in Residence at Everglades National Park, the Arts Benicia installation residency program, and at the CSP “Printers Series” residency at Gruenwald Press. She currently teaches at Sacramento State University, Folsom Lake College and the UC Davis Craft Center.

Susan Silvester is an interdisciplinary artist who is originally from NYC, before making her home in Sacramento. She has been an AIR at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento for eight years, where she maintains a studio. She has worked as a modelmaker on many TV projects and commercials, such as Pee Wee’s Playhouse and the Pillsbury Doughboy. In 2014 she was selected for the Power Inn Dumpster Project. From 2014 to present, she has created 7 utility wrapped boxes with her own unique digitally drawn designs in Sacramento, Napa, and Davis. Most recently, she was awarded to create five paintings now on view at the Elk Grove Animal Shelter After getting her MA in painting at CSU in 2010, the concepts of creating fairytale-like narratives combining pop culture with her personal memories seem to be a natural blend with her work experience.
